Davy Beaudart at the helm of his Pogo 2 Innovation Environment has just finished third in the first stage of the Transat 6.50 Charente-Maritime/Bahia (standings before jury).
His race time between La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime/France) and Funchal (Madeira / Portugal) is 9 days 09 hours and 59 minutes and 18 seconds. He covered the 1148 mile course to the theoretical speed of 5.08 knots.
"This step was long ... It took 9 days for 1100 miles is a lot! We had the soft and close and close again. We had to grind the head to find the wind. In fact, my option is paid at the end of the course. I even doubled the tears my friend Mary Renaud (ndr, who finished fourth) in the bay, there in front.
